CABINET WAR ROOMS

Located off Parliament Square, at the start of King Charles Street at the base Clive Steps are the Cabinet War Rooms. Situated beneath the Government Office Building; this former storage area was adapted in 1938 as the meeting place from which many of the military commands of Prime Ministers Neville Chamberlain and Winston Churchill were given during the Second World War.

ST. MARTIN IN THE FIELD

The first church on this site stood here in the thirteenth century, quite literally 'in the fields' between London and Westminster. The present incarnation of the church was built one hundred years before Trafalgar Square, where it now stands, and was designed by James Gibbs.
St. Martins has an acclaimed choir an often hold concerts with visiting musicians and orchestras. Admission is free and in the crypt visitors will find a café, gift shop and the London Brass Rubbing Centre.

TRAFALGAR SQUARE

Trafalgar Square was built in honour of Lord Nelson after his victory at the battle of Trafalgar where he was killed in the battle with Napoleons army.
The square was built in the early nineteenth century to a design by the Prince Regents favourite architect, John Nash. The site had previously been a royal stable yard.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE

LONDON WALL

London dates its history back to the Roman Empire. The "London Wall" of nursery rhyme survives to this day, albeit in fragments. A self-guided tour along the 1.5-mile walk is aided by explanatory plaques along the route. The walk stretches from the Museum of London to the Tower of London, offering unique history at every step.

LONDON ZOO and REGENT’S PARK

The London Zoo, one of the world’s great zoos, is found in Regent’s Park. Zoo features include a children’s zoo, a reptile house and more. Other attractions in the Park include a rose garden, a mosque, areas for boating and tennis, and an outdoor theatre.

ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS

Many of the plants here were first planted in the 17th and 18th centuries, including more than a few that were sent back home to London from England’s colonies overseas. The Gardens cover more than 300 acres and the world-famous hothouses maintain a staggering variety of warm-weather and tropical species. Other attractions in the Gardens include a pagoda, an aquatic gardens and a scenic lake.
